Investigative journalist and bestselling author Michael Shellenberger joined us to discuss the war by governments and elites around the world to impose mass censorship on the public. Shellenberger described how his colleagues have uncovered mass censorship efforts by governments from the US to Europe to Brazil, and what must be done to end them. It was a rousing lecture followed by Shellenberger selling and signing his bestselling books, Apocalypse Never and San Fransicko.

Michael Shellenberger is the C.B.R. Chair of Politics, Censorship, and Free Speech at the University of Austin, Founder of Public, and Founder and President of Civilization Works, formerly Environmental Progress.

As a highly acclaimed journalist Michael Shellenberger has broken major stories, including on the Twitter Files, for which he won the 2023 Dao Award for journalism; the Censorship Industrial Complex; San Francisco’s cash incentives for homelessness; the “Amazon Forest are the lungs of the world” myth; climate pseudoscience; climate anxiety; the U.S. government support for fracking; and forest management, climate change, and California’s fires.
